Ratul Upadhyay, the guy we're deciphering here, happens to be a hobbyist photographer and designer based out of New Delhi, India. You read that right, hobbyist and not a professional because he firmly believes that the process of expanding your horizon is incessant, and the art of exploration is limitless. His family belongs to the heart of the Himalayas (Himachal Pradesh, India) and henceforth proximity of these surroundings since childhood have made him much more aware of the mellifluousness that surrounds us, adding that much needed dose of zing and vitality to what could very well turn out to be a mechanical, monotonous and mundane life.
And because of this perpetual curiosity for delving into the unknown, he's had his fair share of luck in running into a few intriguing projects and opportunities across varied dimensions. Some of the highlights amongst these have been to design/photograph the cover of Asian edition of the critically acclaimed novel ‘Shantaram’ by Gregory David Roberts, getting featured in various global magazines and exhibitions like Amateur Photography (UK) and Woman Whose Canvas (London, UK), winning a few Awards of Excellence while pursuing his graduation in Information Technology, and most recently the PDF’17 Annual Design Award in UX/UI category.
His powerful images are part of contemporary iconography, and a cross section of his own personal interests with commercial nomenclatures. So there you have it, that’s about it! A completely self taught photographer, a self-proclaimed tech junky, loves his alternative, indie & folk rock music, and for whom this life is nothing short of awesome! Meet Ratul Upadhyay, formerly a student of Information Technology and currently a freelance hobbyist designer in his spare time.
